Mayra has always had a passion for hair. Her interest began as a young teen, when friends and family often asked her to style their hair for weddings, quinceañeras, and other special events.

At 19, Mayra pursued her passion formally by attending the Federico Beauty Institute. After four years of freelance work, she chose to deepen her skills through more intensive training, stepping back from freelancing to begin her apprenticeship here at Refinery Salon.

In addition to training extensively under the previous owner, Mayra completed a comprehensive classic cutting course at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, California.

Mayra finds joy in both cutting and coloring, drawing inspiration from geometric asymmetry as well as the natural beauty of waves and texture.
